Caffe Vita, bravo!
A flurry of blog posts today. I know Seattle is well-known as the spiritual home of coffee in the US, mainly because of its association with the 800lb gorilla of coffee, Starbucks. Thanks to its ubiquity (the density of Starbucks stores even here on the eastside has to be seen to be believed), it's now my default drop when I need a caffeine hit. Can't complain about the music giveaways they're having this month to celebrate the opening of the iTunes wi-fi music store either.
My new favourite place to get a cup of coffee is now officially Caffe Vita -- they have a few locations, but the one I visit is on E Pike in Cap Hill. The place itself could do with a bit more lighting inside, so maybe I'll just call it 'romantically lit'. But the main event, i.e. the coffee, is just superb. I typically order a plain caffe latte, which consistently offers up a wonderfully full-bodied but smooth taste, is not too hot so you can drink it straight away, and has the requisite latte art on top. In short, a drink I could have all day long and reminds of what enjoying coffee is really about. Eureka!
