Ok a brief post since I'm about to head to bed... Last night I touched down in Seattle after a four-day weekend in Vegas and Grand Canyon (notice my afficionado status by omitting 'the'). Deets in a later post, but suffice to say there was plenty of fodder for photos: http://picasaweb.google.com/alecsiu/GrandCanyon. Also thank you to Windows Live Photo Gallery for your excellent photo stitching feature!
Not much to blog about lately, been rather busy at work unfortunately. Twas Chinese New Year last weekend which passed by rather uneventfully for me. I went into Seattle's International District/Chinatown to check out what was going on... In two words: not much. There was some entertainment put on inside Union Station, but kinda detracting from the experience were the surfeit of blatantly commercial booths pimping Wells Fargo, Bank of America et al. Yes, I understand the need to pay for these (free) events, but I was hoping for a bit more on the cultural side... Oh well, it's not as though last year's Chinese New Year in Melbourne was particularly notable for me either, but for some reason this year I felt a greater need to reconnect with my roots.
Oh and I recently "rediscovered" my Flickr photos. I've only got one set on there: in April/May of last year when I holidayed in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia as a last hurrah towards the tail end of my stint at Hitwise, and my last real holiday before heading for the US of A. Looking at those photos now makes me all nostalgic, which is frightening given that they were taken not that long ago. It makes me realise time passes too quickly for my liking, and that at one point life seemed so much simpler (indeed it certainly seemed simpler and more enviable in the countries I visited, but I know that I gloss over the daily hardships that those inhabitants probably face on a day-to-day basis, and I do so from the privileged position of someone brought up entirely in the Western world...).
